Simon Says...Red and Green

With Christmas approaching really fast these are a perfect color combo for this challenge. I have chosen to make but another Christmas Greeting Card. By the time the holiday does roll around I will have plenty to chose from.

The image on my card is from a coloring book page and with the help of PSP and some plug-ins I colored it in and added a few other touches. I removed the white background from the coloring page using a plug-in and that really made a difference. I then layered the image on a red and green plaid background. It looked okay but I thought the image was too small. I selected a square portion surrounding the image and cropped the whole thing to it. Now I have a square, the image and some of the background. I set that a side while I made another card and flood filled it with the plaid. I took the image and background that I cropped and applied it to the card. Much better. Card is looking great but it still needs that kick to send it over the top. My gold corners! I added the gold corners and that did the trick! Challenge met my card is done!

Just thought I share.

The other day while surfing the net I came across a website that has free down-loadable digi kits. Then I thought about those of you who cut and paste...do you realize that you too can use these free kits to make your projects. In case you did not know the kits usually contain papers and embellishments that coordinate. The kits are perfect for making cards easier whether you do them digitally or cut and paste, everything is there for you. The contents of the kits can be printed off and used as regular papers and can be printed to the size that you need. Some of the embellishments are so real looking you have to give them a quick feel. They can also be used over and over because you store them on your computer. The best part about the kits is they are FREE and there are a lot of them on the net. The kits can save you time and money...no more running to the store because you can't find the right paper in your stash. Just thought I share.

365 Card Challenge - Challenge Combo

I am playing catch-up here. Going back over my cards for the month I noticed I missed one. Day 208 which is a challenge combo. For this challenge you are to use a challenge from June, July, and August and combine them on one card.

Here are my selections:
June...Four Seasons
July...Tag, you're it
August...What's your sign

I am sure you can clearly see the four seasons. The card itself is my tag and the sentiment is my sign. Challenge has been met and I am all caught-up! Yippee!!

Digital Tuesday Challenge - Heart to Heart

The challenge is to use a heart somewhere on your project.

Have you seen those shaker cards? I had been wanting to try to make one digitally, I think now is a good time. Well it was easy to do so I went a step further and added liquid to my card. I had fun with this challenge. Challenge met my card is done.

365 Card Challenge - In Pieces

Wow this is different. I have done paper piecing before when I was doing cut and paste but not as a digi card. The pieces are of a jack-o-lantern that we are to assemble and place on the card.

Okay I have gotten the pieces done now for the rest of the card. I need a back drop and some embellishments. I think it is looking pretty good after all it is a Halloween card. Challenge has been met my card is done.

365 Card Challenge - On the Fringes

After submitting my first entry I did find an actual fringe brush tip in my brush folder that I had over looked. I am submitting this card as well just to show it can be done digitally.

Mojo Monday Sketch

Sketch time for Mojo Monday. I just download a pack of digi papers that will go great for this project. After laying out the sketch and applying the papers, for some reason I kept thinking of pears. Not sure why, the thought was just there. I did not have a picture of a pear so I went in search of. Just my luck I found a picture that had the perfect colors for my card. I decided to use it as my focal point. It worked! The challenge was met and my card is now done.

365 Card Challenge - On the Fringes

Wow...a new challenge for me in my digital embellishments. In this challenge we are to use fringe of some kind on 2 sides of the card. I did not have any fringe to speak of in my card supply folder...nor had I created any. I have done lace, ribbon, and ric rac, but no fringe.

I checked my brushes and found a lattice edge one...well kinda sorta. If I thread what appear to be ribbon through it I think it would work. I chose the papers I wanted to use and picked a color from it to make the ribbon. It looks pretty good. I made a glass heart from a bubble heart brush tip...copied and pasted it 3 times. Everything seem to come together. Challenge met (I taught myself something new again) and my card is done.

Stamp Something - Favorite Sketch and Friday Sketchers

I am running a little behind with my card challenges. :( This card is covering two challenges Stamp Something and Friday Sketchers. For Stamp Something you are to use your favorite sketch or layout and for Friday Sketchers we are given a sketch to follow.

I had an image of a little boy that I wanted to use so I decided to make the card a little masculine. I used the given sketch from Friday Sketchers to cover the challenge for Stamp Something. Both challenges have been met...my card is done.

For the fun of it

I came across a really cool background image that I just had to use. It does not fit any of the challenges that I have not done yet...so this one is just for the fun of it.
The puppy image was a freebie from DZ Doodles Digital Stamps and the evergreen image I found as a black and white on the net. After putting the 3 images together it turned out to be a pretty cool card.

I was making this card for the Simon Says Challenge and realize that it will work for the 365 Card Sketch Challenge as well. Simon Says Challenge we are to use stitiching on the card and 365 Card challenge is a sketch.

Last night while surfing I came across a website full of tutorials for PSP and one of them was how to stitch in a shape. I was floored. Just what I needed. I had always wanted to try it but did not know where to start. Now I got it down pat! Yippee!! Both challenges have been met my card is done.

I fell a sleep last night before I could finish exploring the new found website...so guess where I am going. You all enjoy your day. Check back later you may find some new cards that I just did for the fun of it all!

On this card we were to try a technique called sanding. I have not done this before cut and paste or other wise. This will be a challenge for me. Great...you know me, I like trying something new and to see if I can get the same effect digitally.

I thought hard on this one, but I think I got it down. What do you think?

365 Card Challenge - DIY: Pattern Paper

We are to make are own background paper for this challenge. I started out yesterday trying to decide if I should do the cut and paste or just make a digital card. Well I ended up doing both. I made the background paper by taking card stock and stamping it first with a resist using a round sponge. By doing this when I stamp the red and green stripes over it they would have a distress look to them. Well it worked kind of sort of. Any way I scanned the card into my computer and finished it in PSP. Challenged met card is done.

365 Card Challenge - Color Scheme

Today's challenge is a color scheme over at 365 Cards. We were given 6 different colors and asked to use them all on the card.

I decide to make a gift card holder because I need one for a gift. It is a tri-fold card that I learned how to do for another challenge about a week ago. I decided to use the mosaic texture on the upper flap and a textured red card stock for the rest of the card. The image that I used for the mosaic had all the colors from the challenge color scheme in it, which is why I decided to use it. So the challenge has been met.

Copic Buzz Challenge #14

I came across this challenge while surfing. It is a color challenge and the colors are gray and black. You are to use the colors on the card. Another requirement is to use a stamp by the sponser which is Sassy Design Studio. Needless to say I do not own a stamp by the sponser digital or other wise. Lucky for me a digi stamp is provided as a free download. The stamp is title Witchy Cameo.

I decided to give it a try. I used some embellishments from www.nkdigitalart.us called nightmare. I started out by using a gray and black stripe background just to get that out of the way. Then I proceeded to paint the image. Challenge has been met my card is now done.

Stamp Something - Favorite Color or Paper

The challenge over at Stamp Something is to decide on your favorite color or paper. My favorite paper is the one I make from using the mosaic texture effect in PSP. I get a image that I like the colors in and then apply the mosaic texture to it. The effect is WOW!!

The picture I choose for this card is called Bellagio glass flowers. I found the picture a while back while surfing the net. I thought the colors in the picture were awesome and decided to save it. I am so glad I did. I had a stamp of tweety bird and decided to use it as my image. All and all I think the card turned out great and I
plan to send it to a day dreamer friend of mine.

Friday Sketchers and Simmon Says Stamp

Today is Friday and it is time for a new sketch over at Friday Sketchers, but you know what I think this card is good enough to use for Simmon Says Stamp Challenge as well.

Over at Simon Says it is a recipe challenge and the ingredients are as follows: Use 3 embellishments, 2 papers, and 1 image. I have an elements packet that I download from http://nkdigitalart.blogspot.com that I think will do nicely. The image is a faerie stamp that I received as a prize for best card in a challenge from Faerie Song Artist Stamps Group over at PCP.

The card has the sketch as it's base and all the ingredients from the recipe. I do believe the challenges have been met and the card is done.

365 Card Challenge - Once upon a Time

I had so much fun with this. Well maybe not...it was just so hard to choose. ;D Today's challenge is about Fairy Tales. You are to let a fairy tale inspire you. Wow I get to play with my faeries. I am just fascinated by the little creatures. I have several books on them...coloring books, sketch books, and even some stickers. I even have them in my garden.

It is the tale of Peter Pan that got me to love the little creatures. When I was younger I saw the original movie...the one with Mary Martin as Peter...you know the one. I do believe, I do believe! I wanted to be Tinker Bell. Anyway it is she who has inspired me.

On the inside the card reads: '...to get to you'

Here is the inside.

Digital Tuesday Challenge - Clean and Simple

Today's challenge is about clean and simple with a fall theme.

I have become hooked on the mosaic look. Not with the big pieces though. I like using the smaller pieces because it reminds me of the ashtray I made back in the day. The effect I get is really awesome to me. I have used it in two other cards and now this one...different colors used though. The digi stamp I download from PC Hugs. Even though this card was very simple to make. The mosaic background gives it a dramatic look. Dramatic but clean and simple.

365 Card Challenge - Shape Up

The shape for today is hexagon. Which means the focal point on the card should be in the shape of an hexagon. I used the same shape for a card I did for Friday Sketchers challenge.

I struggle with what to do with this one. I ended up doing an hexagon shape and flood filling it with a blue gradient to help give it a feel of substance. Using a snowflake brush tip I painted a white snowflake on a new layer and applied it as an overlay. The snowflake looked as though it was attached to the blue hexagon shape...just what I was going for. I applied a white organza ribbon and bow...of which the edges are blue and green. Then I applied a font entitled snowdrift. Perfect! Challenge met...my card is done.

365 Card Challenge - Make a Mosaic

Today's challenge is all about using a mosaic someplace on the card. Sounds like fun. This will be something new for me to try in PSP.

I have a packet of coordinating digi papers called Cuddlebeez Afternoon Break. The papers were a free download from http://www.cuddlebeezscraps.blogspot.com
The digi stamp was sent to me so I am not sure where it came from. I painted the image with colors from the papers, except for the shirt, I flood filled it with a pattern from one of the papers, all done in PSP. The mosaic background was made using several of the papers. I decided to go small on the tiles because it help the other elements to blend better. Challenge met...my card is done!

Stamp Something - Favorite Embellishment

A new challenge over at Stamp Something. This challenge is all about embellishments. I like to use an image, ribbons, and buttons on my cards. Some times I use all three or maybe none at all and let the paper speak for itself. The embellishments that I choose to use on a particular card have to enhance the card in some way. I don't embellish unless the card needs that extra punch.

On this particular card I decided to create a ribbon and some buttons from the background paper as my embellishment. Challenge met..my card is done.

365 Card Challenge - Just a Touch

Today's challenge for 365 Cards is about adding just a touch of color to a black and white image.

The image I choose is of a single perfect rose. I had wanted to use the image before, and I had always colored it completely in and it just did not look right so I did not use it. Now I see why. The image only called for just a touch of color...and it looks great.

As my background for the card I created a wide weave pink fabric in PSP and layered it over black. For the rose I created an organza fabric in white to layer it onto. That was my focal point. I created a ribbon to match the white fabric and put my sentiment on it. Challenge met, card is done.

365 Card Challenge - Pretty Pattern

This is going to be a lot easier challenge then yesterday's. Well maybe I just thought to hard about yesterday's challenge and it was not really that hard...any way. Today's challenge is all about the gingham plaid. You have to use it on an article of clothing on the card.

Not a bad challenge. I opened up one of my images that came in the Mysterious Scrap girl packet in PSP and work everything around it. In that same packet was a lavender gingham plaid digi paper, wow what luck! I flood filled it as a background. The top on the image was a lavender flower print, that would not do. I selected the top, added a new layer and flood filled it with the same gingham paper but on a smaller scale. Perfect! I created some yellow glass eyelets in PSP to bring out the yellow in the top and added them to the corners of the paper that I put the focal image on. Next I added some flowers, which were also in the packet to the bear's paw as though she were holding them.

Now for the sentiment. I created a strip of organza ribbon just below the focal point image and added the yellow eyelets to each side. On it is where I put the sentiment. Card done, challenge met!

365 Card Challenge - Technology

Wow this is a tough one. When I heard the word technology the first thing that comes to thought is my computer. To me there is nothing more interesting and gets updated all the time. You can buy the top of the line computer today and in two months it could be out dated. That in itself impresses me. Another thing is the software that is available for the computer that helps you to do a lot more then just type and store information.

I use PSP all the time to assist me in making my cards for all the different challenges. How do I get that across in my card for this challenge? Wow what a dilemma.

I think I am thinking to hard on this. Lets do something real simple. I have an image that I download from PCHug.com. I decided to use it as my focal point and leave everything else just plain and simple. I flood fill the background in white hearts to make it look embossed and added text to appear like I am in a chat on the computer with someone as my sentiment. I hope this is tech inspired enough...LOL

365 Card Challenge - Card Recipe

The challenge over at 365 Cards is to include all items from a given list or commonly known as the recipe.
Here is today's recipe:

5x5 Card
4 different patterned papers
3 blossoms
1 stamped (ink or digital) image
5 rhinestones
The sentiment is up to you

It took me awhile to get this one done. The papers were no problem. I had scanned in some fabric that had squares of several designs in it. I just copy and paste each design separately. The rhinestones were no problem...they were in my stash of digi embellishments...a shout out to NKDigitalArt.us for the KatNKDA free addon La Parisienne packet. The image was not a problem...everything on the card is a digital image of sorts. The problem was the blossoms. Trying to find the right flowers now that was a big issue. I could not just put any thing on the card...it had to fit with everything else including the sentiment. I searched and searched my clickart program and I finally found an image that I thought I could work with. I had to do some manipulation but it was not to bad.

I put it all together and stood back. It actually looked pretty good. Challenge met, my card is done!

The group of images are so cute and coloring is not needed. I got 50 images for free. And there is an assortment of categories. Go check them out. You will find a link on the right.

Today I also taught myself how to get the dry embossing look with PSP. I just had to use the effect on this card. Hope you like it.

Digital Tuesday Challenge - All About the Kids

The subject over at Digital Tuesday is Kids. The main subject of your card should be kids. I just did a challenge card for 365 Cards this morning and luck have it there is a child as the main subject. You can see that card here. Thought very hard about doing it as a double challenge, but because I enjoy making the cards so much I decided to make a new one just for this challenge.

365 Card Challenge - Musical Monday

For today's challenge the song Chantilly Lace, by The Big Bopper was to inspire you. When I heard the song, first thought that came to mind was the malt shoppe that was inside a drug store that we use to go to back in the day. Back then fun was simpler and the music was great.

I went on the net looking for an image of a malt shoppe. There were plenty. The one I like the most was the one with Betty Boop. After a few adjustments I made it work. I applied the the image as a label on the record I made in PSP. The word lace kept creeping in my thoughts so I knew I had to use it somewhere. I used a lace brush to apply the lace. I also used a music note brush to give the card added detail. Then I wanted to apply my sentiment on the label in a curve. I have not done this before using this version of PSP so once again I am learning something new. Card is done and we are ready to swing.

3D Tuesday Challenges - Scalloped Envelope

I was over at PCP this morning and came across the group 3D Tuesday Challenges. This group does not make cards or scrapbook pages, anything but. I was intrigued. This weeks challenge was to make a scalloped gift card envelope. Sounds interesting. Once again I used PSP to make the envelope. I noticed on the sample cards they were using mask. I have an image of a mask from Mardi Gras so I decided to use it in my design. I took colors from the mask to make the rest of the card. Challenge is met...I hope

365 Card Challenge - Charming

Charming is the topic of the day at 365 Cards. The challenge is to use a charm on the card.

I have a coloring book page of 3 hearts, 2 larger then the other. I thought this would make a good charm. I created the charm in PSP, it looked pretty good. I created a ribbon to hang it from. All and all I liked the turn out. Now for the rest of the card. Because 2 of the hearts were larger then the other I thought of it as mom and dad with a child and that gave me an idea for the sentiment. Here is my take on the challenge.
