Lucky us

My cousin and I have the same birth date which is 11/26 and this year it happens to fall on ThanksGiving Day. I have not seen him since he graduated from high school, he now lives in Germany. About a month ago I was lucky enough to come across him on FaceBook. We made a promise to each other to post a birthday card on each others' wall. This card is for him as well as the challenge at ASFOS...which is a color challenge of brown as the base color and pink or blue. Happy B-Day Darren!

2RedBananas - I Am Thankful

Thankful

I think this card covers 3 different challenges:

Stamp Something which is a theme Thank You Something
Allsorts which is a also a theme Christmas Carol or Song title
Crazy 4 which is a sketch you will find it here.

The papers I used for this challenge are from a digi kit titled Vintage Oreo, a very fitting name. Once again I used a coloring book page for the image. I really like the lyrics to this song so I have included a link here.

Double Your Pleasure

I was going through my coloring book pages, which I sometimes use for digi image to paint and came across the one that I used for this card. It is so cute I could not resist it. This card I double up on challenges...DYTDSF which the challenge is to use glitter and S2G which is a sketch challenge with a twist. You will find the sketch here and the twist is to add ribbon/ricrac to the project.

I hate that I have to upload my cards so small...the smaller the card is the less of the details you are able to see, but for this one if you click on the picture you will see a larger image. What I wanted you to see is that the fawn is being fed sugar cubes by the little one....I think that is so precious.

I like the image so much I want to share it with you...you will find the link here ENJOY!

Friday Sketchers

Today is Friday and that means there is a new sketch to be had at Friday Sketchers. You will find the sketch here.

When my daughter wasn't being a Drama Queen she had her nose stuck in a book and still does when she has the time. Hey maybe that is where all the drama came from...who knows...LOL

Jess would pick-up a book and had it read before I would even get to the second chapter. Dang I wish I could read like that. Even if the book is good it takes me a couple of days.

Another Double

When you are given colors as your challenge and a sketch for another challenge it is so easy to combine the two to get one fabulous project. This entry is just that, I combine the color challenge of The Color Dare with the sketch challenge of Charisma Cardz. You will find the colors here and the sketch here.

A Spoon Full of Sugar - Baby's First Christmas

It took me awhile to get this one just right. For the ASFOS challenge this week we were to do something for Baby's First Christmas.

I started out with a coloring book page of Rudolph the red nose reindeer and I colored it in using PSP of course. I was going to use the image to make the card but it just was not enough. My creative thoughts began to go a mile a minute, boy I was thinking...I wanted to do something outside the box with this card. Then I thought about the theme and it hit me. I saw the card in my head now I just needed to figure out how to get it on paper...well digital paper...lol

I took the painted image of Rudolph and overlayed it on an image of a silver ornament that I had done for another project, it started out as a coloring book page as well. All this was done in PSP. It worked..I just added the snowflakes to complete the card. Yelp that is what I saw...my card is done!

In case you can't read what it says on the ornament...it reads Baby's First Christmas 2009

Mojo Monday Sketch

You will find the sketch for this week at Mojo Monday here.

Today I am so excited I have taught myself a couple of new things using PSP. I mentioned in an earlier post for today I figured out how to do a better job creating glitter...and now I have taught myself how to lace ribbon through eyelet for today's card by using the warp tool and brush tool...cool uh? I am telling you this software is amazing. Anyway here is my card for today's challenge.

Showing Glitter

I have been having issues showing glitter digitally on my project when required by a challenge. I have a couple of tutorials that show you how to recreate the look of glitter using different filters. The effect was okay and passable but I wanted it to pop so when you looked at it you knew you were seeing glitter.

I use to make cut and paste cards so I had some glitter. Well this is what I discover...if I use double-sided tape on some paper and sprinkle glitter on it and then scan the results in to my computer as color swatches...I can use those swatches as patterns in PSP and paint with them. I tried it and guess what the glitter does show up! Now I have 24 different colors of glitter. Bring on the BLING!!

Just thought I share.

Hugs,
Jaggs

Double Up

I combined the challenge for Allsots which was to make something for a child and Crazy 4 Challenges which was to use acetate on your project.

I made this several years ago using the glass bulbs you see in the craft stores. This time I recreated it using PSP.

I guess if I were to make a physical project using acetate the steps would be as follow:

First thing I would do is heat the acetate just enough to mold it around the top of a light bulb. Allowing it to cool and repeat for second half.

I would make the arms, gloves, legs, and shoes out of chip board and construction paper...gluing the construction paper to both sides. I would also use the construction paper for the mouth. I like those eyes that move...you know the ones, I would use them instead of the paper just because I think they are fun and glue them on.

I would use the formed acetate to trace a circle frame out of chipboard to glue the completed legs and arms to. Making sure I added the cap for the hook at the top.

Glue one of the acetate circles to the frame. Add the contains then glue the other have. Add the hook and you project is complete.

Painting Images using PSP

While making a card today I was painting the image and thought to myself that those of you that do not use PSP might be interested in how I get the finished product. Well it is all about the layers. The best way that I can explain layers to you is that each element of the image is a separate picture that I paint. I break it up mainly by colors. I will use the last card I did...the one with the little girl singing. I broke it down like this...I selected her skin and chose the color then flood filled it with the chosen color. I then painted highlights and shadows on another layer to add dimension. Next was the dress...I selected the dress and instead of a color I chose a pattern and flood filled the selection and save it as another small picture (layer). The hair, shoes, and sock were all done the same way, each as it own small picture or layer. Now I have five separate layers that make up the image.

The reason for the layers is, if I wanted to change something I don't have to undo the whole thing...just the layer that I want to change. Once I am satisfy with the different elements of the image I merge or put them back together. I now have a completely painted image in a single layer.

I hope that helps you to better understand the process of digitally painting an image using layers. Just thought I share.

Hugs,
Jaggs

S2G - Twisted Thursday

This is my favorite time of the year especially when the weather acts right. I live in NC near the BlueRidge Mountains. This time of the year the leaves colors have changed and are floating in the sun. The crunch I hear as I walk among them. I said all that to say that is what inspired me for this card.

This card is for the S2G sketch challenge (which you will find here) with a twist...and for today the twist is to use Kraft paper on your project. Now I know what kraft paper is...I just did not know it was consider a color. Any way the challenge has been met, my card is complete.

Double Challenge

I crossed over and did a little shabby chic for this challenge. It is a double challenge for Simon Says and The Color Dare. Simon Says challenge is to give thanks in some way...make a Thanksgiving theme card or a thank you card. The Color Dare challenge is colors of course and you will find them here.

I found some torn mulberry paper and tattered brown paper in my digi paper stash that I thought would work. I decided to create a piece of white ribbon so now I had all the colors from the required list. To bring it all together, in PSP pattern papers I found a pattern with almost all the reqiured colors the brown was not quit right, after a little this and that it became perfect.

I have met the challenge and my card is done.
