My humble digital card beginning.

I love making my own greetings cards and thought that the card challenges would be a lot of fun. I own a Pazzle, Cuttlebug and a lot of paper and pens...and the things one would need to make great cards.

One day when I made a card for my sister the image on it got wet and the colors begin to run and it was ruined, so I started sending the images to Walmart to be printed. That solved that problem. That became costly so I got cheap, but good laser printer. Then I realize all the other stuff, the papers, glue, and stamps were getting costly as well.

That is when I decided to make the cards in Paint Shop Pro aka PSP PSP is a software that I have been teaching myself since version 3 and not getting very far. What the program does is manipulate images...like photos. Here lately and now using version 12 I have learned that the program can also create images and paint them as well. Light bulb went off...why not use it to make my cards. And so digital card making began for me...and boy has it saved me money. I now make my cards in PSP, print them off and if I think the cards needs a little more I then add cut and paste to it, but not very often.

This blog now consist of my creations that I have made using nothing but PSP. I found the challenge for me is to teach myself how to meet the different card challenges within PSP.

I now store the cards on my computer in a psp format preserving the layers so later if I need to change something on one of the cards before printing it easy to do.

I also store all the papers, images, and embellishments that I add to my creations on the computer as well. I use to just scan them in. Boy does that save me space. I learned that these items have a friendly term, they are known as digital elements or digi papers and digi stamps. I just love them to pieces. They take up space on my hard drive and not the floor, basket, or box here and there.

I found that there are plenty of people out there that create these digi elements and share them for FREE. Needless to say I have tons of stuff now. Papers and embellishments that are made to match. No more hunting down the right this or that...it is all in the kits stored on my computer.

Well that is how all this digital stuff began...Just thought I share.

Hugs,
Jaggs

Lucky us

My cousin and I have the same birth date which is 11/26 and this year it happens to fall on ThanksGiving Day. I have not seen him since he graduated from high school, he now lives in Germany. About a month ago I was lucky enough to come across him on FaceBook. We made a promise to each other to post a birthday card on each others' wall. This card is for him as well as the challenge at ASFOS...which is a color challenge of brown as the base color and pink or blue. Happy B-Day Darren!

Lets go to the Movies

The challenge for Corrosive this week is a theme called Lets go to the movies. This time of the year my favorite movie is Meet Me in St. Louis. I did a sort of invitation for my take on the challenge. Over at

2RedBananas - I Am Thankful

Because it is so close to Thanksgiving Day here in the States the challenge at 2RedBananas is to make a project showing gratitude. I chose to do another card using the digi papers and elements from Summer Driggs' Thanks for Giving digi kit.

Thankful

I think this card covers 3 different challenges:

Stamp Something which is a theme Thank You Something
Allsorts which is a also a theme Christmas Carol or Song title
Crazy 4 which is a sketch you will find it here.

The papers I used for this challenge are from a digi kit titled Vintage Oreo, a very fitting name. Once again I used a coloring book page for the image. I really like the lyrics to this song so I have included a link here.

Double Your Pleasure

I was going through my coloring book pages, which I sometimes use for digi image to paint and came across the one that I used for this card. It is so cute I could not resist it. This card I double up on challenges...DYTDSF which the challenge is to use glitter and S2G which is a sketch challenge with a twist. You will find the sketch here and the twist is to add ribbon/ricrac to the project.

I hate that I have to upload my cards so small...the smaller the card is the less of the details you are able to see, but for this one if you click on the picture you will see a larger image. What I wanted you to see is that the fawn is being fed sugar cubes by the little one....I think that is so precious.

I like the image so much I want to share it with you...you will find the link here ENJOY!

Friday Sketchers

Today is Friday and that means there is a new sketch to be had at Friday Sketchers. You will find the sketch here.

When my daughter wasn't being a Drama Queen she had her nose stuck in a book and still does when she has the time. Hey maybe that is where all the drama came from...who knows...LOL

Jess would pick-up a book and had it read before I would even get to the second chapter. Dang I wish I could read like that. Even if the book is good it takes me a couple of days.
